Trusting to receive power

2 Samuel 22:

31 As for God, His way is perfect;

The word of the LORD is proven;

He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

The word “trust” denotes an expectation of reliable performance.  Look up at the sun, the moon, and the stars and you should be able to fathom the reliability of Our Heavenly  Father.  Day in and day out, HE causes the stars and the planets to complete their assigned circuit.  As we align ourselves with HIS Love, we too will become trustworthy.  Our old man is the one aspect of our being that cannot be trusted.  The ego will sacrifice others for the benefit of “self”.

As we align ourselves by being rooted and grounded in Love, we should expect the power from On High to be dispatched to us so that we can walk in the fullness of our individual callings.  Abraham trusted the Word of Our Heavenly Father for the blessings promised.  Moreover, so did Sarah:

Hebrews 11:11  By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.  NKJV

Sarah trusted Our Heavenly Father’s Word to receive.  She trusted the fact that Our Heavenly Father could and would deliver on HIS promise.  Today, we often defer to man to fulfill promises as a substitute for receiving from Our Heavenly Father.  As I have mentioned in our Bible study, I believe we have had a “dearth in the land”, a famine.  A famine separates the faithful from those who are easily tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine.  The faithful continue to press in, expecting to be endued with power from On High.  They expect to be a part of the progressive expansion of the Kingdom.  They expect the mysteries held for this point in time to be revealed unto them as they are found worthy of HIS trust.  They trust not in man’s substitutes for the power.  Instead of settling for good, the seek out HIS best.  Their passion is for the fullness of the Holy Spirit so they can express HIS Love to all of mankind.

As you purge yourself of the old man and fully commit the old man to the cross, you become trustworthy.  Can men rely on your word?  Are you reliable?  Stewardship requires performance to assess your level of trustworthiness.  Are you a good steward over a little or do you tend to compromise?  What a mess we would be in if Our Heavenly Father compromised HIS Word.

As you become passionate about walking in Love, you will change.  Your priorities will shift in accordance with your level of passion toward the things of THE LORD.  Can you imagine spending forty days “tarrying” with a small group of the same people waiting for the arrival of the Holy Spirit?  This group trusted the Word from Jesus.  They saw the power of resurrection and knew they could trust Our Heavenly Father to perform.  How long are you willing to tarry?  How long are you willing to focus on receiving the Power from On High?  Are you willing to die to the flesh?  Do you have faith to receive?

Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Are you too busy to respond to the call?  Assess your priorities by where you place your time and your money.  Both are good indicators of where you place your trust.

Proverbs 3:

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.

8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;

10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
