We Disciples

In Matthew Chapter 10 Jesus summoned His disciples together:

1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

We too are His disciples  In Matthew chapter 28, Jesus commanded the disciples:

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen!

Jesus did not exclude you or me from His directive in Matthew 10:1.  Some have left it to the original twelve.  Many others have left that directive to the five-fold ministry as though they have some exclusive right to receive power from On High.  A degree from seminary nor a PhD is relevant to being a disciple.  Many want to simply observe salvation, deliverance, and miracles but do not have the revelation of being called to minister.  If we are disciples then we are called to minister.

The devil is not a menace to us for Jesus has given us power over the works of the devil.  We have Spiritual power over our physical bodies.  The Spiritual operates at a higher level than the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of our bodies.  It must be established in the Spiritual realm first then the outworking will occur in the lower systems of our bodies.  We are to exert influence and legal power over unclean spirits and all kinds of sickness and disease because of the directive Jesus gave us.

These writings are meant to renew our minds so that we will repent from dead works and begin to act solely on The Word given to us by FATHER.  We must act on these directives or otherwise we will become lukewarm and be of none effect.  If you are sick, then start speaking to your own body and demand it line up with The Word.  As The Word becomes greater than your affliction, your body will respond and line up with The Word.  How long will it take?  Until the resistance to The Word is removed and The Word brings back to life those aspects of your body which are resisting life.

When The Word is mixed with faith it profits us.  By hearing, studying, focusing, and meditating on The Word our faith increases and ultimately produces good fruit.  Healing is just one of those fruit.  Casting out unclean spirits is another fruit.  Making disciples of men and women is one of those fruit as well.  When people see us overcoming obstacles in life they will seek out our revelation.  The Holy Spirit will draw them to us.

The first sign expressed by Jesus to the disciples was the power over unclean spirits.  In Mark 16 Jesus spoke:

17 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Jesus said the first sign of the believer’s power was to cast out demons.  If it were not so important Jesus would not have emphasized the need to deal with the opposition.  Is it any different today?  Is there less opposition today than there was 2,000 years ago?  From the outset of our life as a believer we are to have power over the devil and his devices.  Let us embrace this Truth as much as we do the message of salvation for they are both connected by the Words of Jesus who spoke FATHER’S Divine Intent toward us.  In John chapter 8, Jesus spoke:

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you believe and abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

We who believe and abide in His Word ARE HIS DISCIPLES!  In Mark chapter 3 Jesus empowered the disciples:

14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach,

15 and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons.

Every one of us are also appointed by Jesus based on His determination that we too are disciples.  Jesus sent them out to communicate the Gospel to others (preach).  We are to communicate in everyday language to those whom FATHER has placed in our paths.  We are to be an expression of Love in Word and deed.  We are intended to have power thus we should expect HIS power to operate in our lives.  In Luke 9, Jesus directed the disciples:

1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

6 So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

All demons are subject to the power given to us by Jesus.  We contact people and transmit the Love and power to them.  In Luke chapter 10, Jesus further appointed the seventy:

1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.

8 “Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you.

9 And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’”

19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Jesus started with 12 disciples, then added 70 disciples and in Mark 16, expanded His disciples to all who believe.  This includes you and me.  Let us embrace the revelation that Jesus gave us power over the enemy and power to heal all those who are sick.  Let us do whatever is necessary to renew our minds to this Truth so that we can minister Love to a hurting world.  It may take much prayer and fasting but let us not be deterred from our mandate.
