The Betrayal of Love

Psalm 41:9   Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me (betrayed me).

Jesus, the manifestation of Love, knew that He would be betrayed by Judas Iscariot.  This betrayal had been prophesied by Scripture and pointed to that fateful day of crucifixion.  Often, betrayal is connected to the “love of money”":

Mat 26:14  Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests

Mat 26:15  and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.

Mat 26:16  So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.

The Faithful Servant of Our Heavenly Father was deemed to be valued at 30 pieces of silver, that is to say, Love was sold out for 30 pieces!  What a shame that carnal man would stoop to such a low place.  Men would have given all they possessed to be healed by Jesus but in the final days of His ministry, 30 pieces of silver is all it took to hand Him over to death. This was foretold by the prophet Zechariah:

Zec 11:12  Then I said to them, "If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain." So they weighed out for my wages thirtypieces of silver.

Zec 11:13  And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter"–that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD for the potter.

How could the redemption of man be valued at only 30 pieces of silver?  The betrayal of the “vow” of the bride of Christ was set at 30 pieces.  The Blood of Christ is beyond value but Love submitted to this betrayal and the cross in order to redeem mankind from death and destruction.

Today, betrayal (or treachery) has become commonplace in our society.  Betrayal of public trust runs rampant among politicians who will say and do anything to get reelected and further their agendas of self-interest.  Mankind continues to head toward the abyss of destruction yet Our Heavenly  Father will surely bring forth a redemption through the revelation of Love AND the Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ which paid the ransom for all.
