On Friday I was contacted by a first grade teacher about a student in need of shoes. We discussed the size and I went to the principal who suggested Wal-Mart gift cards to use for shoes in various children’s sizes. On Monday I took a pair of shoes to the teacher and later that morning I saw the student in need wearing the shoes and a big smile! He was grateful for new shoes that fit and stayed on his feet.
I used the gift cards to buy a total of six pairs of shoes. Should we not find a need for the remaining five pairs of shoes during the fall semester, we will include them in Christmas boxes for families on our school Christmas list.
