Our Abode

Sunday, April 2nd, 2017

In John chapter 14, Jesus spoke:

21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.”

Within the above passage is a powerful Truth which is difficult for many to grasp.  THE FATHER, Son, and Holy Spirit can and will make THEIR abode in each of us.  The requirement for this to happen centers around Love.  Their presence is not only desirable but actually achievable.  When this occurs our “abode” reflects the presence of FATHER rather than us.  The greater shines brighter than the lesser.

What happens when FATHER makes HIS abode on earth?  In 1 Kings chapter 8 by THIS SPIRIT it was recorded:

10 And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,

11 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.

12 Then Solomon spoke:

“The LORD said He would dwell in the dark cloud.

13 I have surely built You an exalted house,

And a place for You to dwell in forever.”

Should we expect similar results when HE, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit make THEIR abode in us?  We shouldn’t expect anything less as we fully walk in HIS commandments of Love!  You and I know we are not worthy apart from the Blood of Jesus so there can be no act of performance on our part.  We must walk in Love as willing vessels to HIM and not allow our flesh to interfere in any manner.  The devil will attempt to hinder us as we fully submit but we must resist the devil and he will flee just as he did in the wilderness with Jesus.  We resist the devil by proper use of The Word and its Divine Intent of Love.

Do we have confidence in the above Words of Jesus coming to pass?  If not, then we must get back into our prayer closets and dwell on these Words until they become alive in us.  Full submission to FATHER’S commandments is where the issue lies.  We must root out any fear keeping us from this most intimate walk.  FATHER’S Love is greater than any emotional wall of defense our “self” has built in order to protect it from the outside.  Let HIS Love dissolve those hindrances so that HE can fully take up residence without restriction.

Earlier in the chapter Jesus spoke:

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Jesus IS the Way to salvation and it is achieved by no other means (Passover).  Jesus sent The Holy Spirit to bear witness of the Truth (Pentecost).  “The Life” is where all Three make Their abode in us as we become fully mature in the revelation of Love (Tabernacles).  When this happens the greatest harvest of good fruit occurs.

The Outworking

The Beloved Disciple wrote by THE SPIRIT in 1 John chapter 3:

16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

How many of us are truly willing to lay down our life for another?  To lay one’s life down can be described in many ways.  Sacrificing on behalf of a brother is one.  Setting aside one’s ego and preferring the other brother.  Acts of kindness without expecting anything in return is another way.  Remaining silent rather than giving an opinion may be appropriate.  Chastening a brother may be required, knowing that he might be angry with you for a time.  As FATHER leads us, we should be ready to minister in whatever manner HE desires and communicates.  By fully submitting to FATHER we have laid down our life and rights and have become vessels of honor for HIS exclusive use.

We no longer live for what we can get from FATHER or others but instead look for ways to be of service.  Isn’t this the essence of Love thy neighbor as thyself?

18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before HIM.

When we respond to FATHER, we know we are walking in Truth and its intent.  The world is consumed with “me” as evidenced by the content of social media.  Opinions and political positions are tossed around resulting in greater division than ever before.  The sheep and the goats are definitely being identified for future separation at some point.  It is our mandate to minister life and reconciliation against this tide of darkness sweeping the earth.  There are those who want war in order to line their pockets even further.  They have successfully done so in the past at the cost of countless lives and maiming of young soldiers.  Where is the Love?  Our power comes from Above and no where else so let us seek FATHER in order to be fully cleansed and purified for HIS use against these powers of darkness.  In Chapter 3:

13 Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.

14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.

15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

We must acknowledge this warning of an enemy to FATHER’S Love and let us not be fearful of the enemy’s devices.  Technology can listen in on conversations and make recordings of the details except for the communications between FATHER and us individually because HE speaks on a higher plane.  FATHER is not intimidated by the works of the devil but is able to destroy all his works as proven by Jesus Christ.  Derived power cannot withstand the Origin of power-never has, never will.

24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

We who keep HIS commandments of Love abide IN HIM and HE in us.  We are given THE SPIRIT to lead and guide us in our daily activities.  The result will be blessing to those we come in contact with and our good fruit will prevail. The outworking of Love can only produce good fruit thus as we inspect our fruit we will have confirmation of our adherence to HIS commandments.  Let us not withhold the outflow!
