Making the Most of Our Day

In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus spoke:

8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your Name.

10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

I grew up reciting The LORD”S Prayer in school at the beginning of the day.  This was because our Nation promoted Christian beliefs and conduct brought forth from the founding fathers.  The sentence “Give us this day our daily bread” denotes receiving from FATHER on a daily basis no matter what form it takes, whether it be sustenance, peace, or HIS Word applicable for this particular day.  Schools never had the problems back then they have had since Prayer has been removed.  When you remove the moral compass of a society, sin enters in and multiplies.

The word “daily” does not mean weekly, monthly, or occasionally.  Those of us who have finally realized that without FATHER’S daily guidance, life can get tough and overwhelming.  Problems will arise.  It may not be today or tomorrow, but they will come.

In Proverbs chapter 6, Wisdom spoke:

6  “Go to the ant, you sluggard!

Consider her ways and be wise,

7 Which, having no captain,

Overseer or ruler,

8 Provides her supplies in the summer,

And gathers her food in the harvest.

9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard?

When will you rise from your sleep?

10 A little sleep, a little slumber,

A little folding of the hands to sleep—

11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,

And your need like an armed man.”

This is not the time to become lazy regarding your daily schedule.  We must prepare for what lies ahead even though nothing may appear eminent.  Just as the Israelites posted watchmen on the wall we must be vigilant and seek FATHER’S daily instructions for our lives.  Whatever HE says, do it.  If we are fully prepared and are being led by HIS SPIRIT then it really doesn’t matter what day or hour Christ returns for we will not be caught unaware.  We must embrace the opportunity to prioritize the time according to FATHER’S Perfect Plan, Will, and Purpose.  Think it not strange to purpose each segment of time to fulfill HIS Plan.  Let HIM direct our path step by step and HE will keep us from harm’s way.

Being led by HIS SPIRIT requires us to change from being led by “self”.  What may have worked in the past will fail in the future if “self” has been our motivating force.  It is time we set aside self-serving ways and embrace the reality that without being led by THE SPIRIT we will not fulfill the fullness of our individual callings.  There is a time to wait on FATHER’S Instructions which must precede the time to act.  Once we have been charged with the task let us not delay in fulfilling HIS Word.  Consider the ways of the ant.
