Perfected Love

The Beloved Disciple wrote by THE SPIRIT in 1 John chapter 2:

3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

We have been commanded to Love and walking in this commandment determines whether or not we are abiding in Him.  Jesus’ earthly ministry was one enveloped in Love and we should endeavor to walk in the same manner day in and day out.  As we increase in maturity, we will become more like Him in our daily affairs.  The trappings of this world will no longer be our focus.  Our interest will change and those things which were once important will no longer matter.

What were Jesus’ priorities?  To represent FATHER and reveal FATHER’S Will for mankind.  Jesus spent 3 1/2 years spreading the Good News of salvation, healing, and restoration.  He was not preoccupied with scriptural studies of the Old Covenant for He represented the New Covenant to mankind.  He did not speak ill of the Old Covenant but focused on the present and future of mankind.  Yes, He referenced the Scriptures but His priority was to show people The Way.  Should our focus be any different?

Is our desire to abide in Him?  If so, let us walk just as He walked.  Let us Love the saint and the sinner alike.  As we mature in this walk, the anointing will be upon us to walk in the same manner as Jesus walked.

What were Jesus’ Commandments?  In Mathew chapter 22, Jesus spoke:

37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

I dare say that most believers walk according to the first Commandment.  It is the second Commandment where most of us must focus.  What is in the best interest of those around us?  Isn’t it to be restored and healed?  Everyone whose joy is not overflowing needs some type of restoration in their life.  People in the world are walking around without peace in their hearts and attempt to fill the void with whatever the world has to offer.  Some use drugs, others seek out new thrills, and others look for affirmations through social media.  The results are always temporary.  Let us be the light unto those who are searching for peace and restoration.  As we minister life, the Holy Spirit will draw men and women unto us.  They will see Christ in us and desire the same joy we are experiencing.

It is my deepest desire to walk in perfected Love and many who read this site have the same heartfelt desire.  Let us press on and not allow the wicked one to divert our focus away from the priorities Jesus established.  Our walk must center around unwavering Love for others in order for it to be perfected.
