Of None Effect

Traditions of men are of none effect.  In Matthew chapter 15, Jesus addressed traditions of men:

1  Then some Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem came to Jesus and said,

2  “Why do Your disciples violate the tradition (religious laws) handed down by the [Jewish] elders? For Your disciples do not [ceremonially] wash their hands before they eat.”

3  He replied to them, “Why also do you violate the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition [handed down by the elders]?

4  For God said [through Moses], ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of or insults or treats improperly father or mother is to be put to death.’

5  But you say, ‘If anyone says to his father or mother, “Whatever [money or resource that] I have that would help you is [already dedicated and] given to God,”

6  he is not to honor his father or his mother [by helping them with their need].’ So by this you have invalidated the word of God[depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect] for the sake of your tradition [handed down by the elders].

7  You hypocrites (play-actors, pretenders), rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said,

8  ‘This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far away from Me.

9  ‘But in vain do they worship Me,
For they teach as doctrines the precepts of men.’”  AMPLIFIED

The religions traditions of men often develop after the revelation given by FATHER has been understood and fulfilled.  Many denominations have arisen from a revelation given to a person which has fulfilled its purpose at the time.  Martin Luther received revelation in 1517 which rejected the traditions taught in the Roman Catholic Church.  Later, the Lutheran Church was born.  Does every revelation need a new church of followers?  There is only one true church of Jesus Christ.

Traditions of men slowly replace revelation given by FATHER.  Men begin to focus on the natural when the supernatural had departed their midst.  I have personally observed this over the last 47 years.  A move of THE SPIRIT comes and blesses people, then men try to recreate it in some fashion thus becoming a tradition.  We need to seek fresh revelation from FATHER and not rely on some tradition developed by men.

We must understand FATHER’S Divine Intent behind revelation rather than simply walking out the mechanics of what we observed, hoping to recreate the revelation and its impact.  Should I go back to the Christian coffee house where I received the baptism of The Holy Spirit, hoping for a new anointing?  Oops, it is long gone.  The person, place, or thing is not what brings revelation and blessing.  It is our interaction with the Spiritual.  We must quit looking around us for something to connect us with Our Heavenly Father, but let us look up!  FATHER does not require us to take some action or be at some locale in order to move in our lives.  I have had the anointing overtake me on a commercial flight moving at 500 mph toward Chicago.  It had nothing to do with me being in seat 12D.  It has everything to do with my heart and desire to hear HIS Word.

Let us be ready at all times to hear and respond to HIS Voice.  Let us exalt Our Lord Jesus Christ by our word and our actions.  Let us submit to the Holy Spirit and remain sensitive to being led by THE SPIRIT.  If we focus our lives in this manner, we will not allow man’s traditions to overtake our walk.
